A Gift of an Education…

As I was, you are now. As I am, you too shall be.
Albert Einstein once wrote, “Everyday I
remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of
other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to
give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.”
Einstein attributes his life’s accomplishments to gifts given by others.
Webster’s Dictionary defines a gift as “something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation.”
This
past spring, Bellin College of Nursing graduated 66 nurses from the BSN
program, the largest graduating class in Bellin College’s history, and
almost 30% more than the previous year. This coming spring,
nearly 60 seniors are slated to graduate, and 9 nurses will graduate
from our newly accredited Masters Degree (MSN) program, the first
graduates from that 2-year-old program.
Like baby
birds leaving the nest, these highly-educated nurses are now out in the
world practicing all they learned in school – helping to save lives,
bring babies into the world, and basically caring for people at some of
the highest and lowest times of their lives.
At some
point in our lives, we’ll all need nurses. Nurses are, and have
always been, crucial in the process of delivering healthcare.
At
any given time on any given hospital shift, one nurse cares for an
average of 4 patients at a time. Use your imagination, and multiply
that out for every hospital, healthcare facility, nursing home, public
health department, etc. around Green Bay, and around the country…
that’s a lot of nurses needed to care for a lot of people everyday.
And
these days, people are living longer, surviving what used to be
life-threatening diseases and injuries, there are more people on earth
than there ever has been before, and the world birth rate is on a
steady incline.
Therefore, you can see why nurses are
in such high demand. And for highly-qualified, highly-educated
nurses, like Bellin College graduates, the demand is through the roof.
That is why a gift, a “something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation,” is so needed and important.
It
is through the generosity of our community that Bellin College of
Nursing is able to continue its nearly 100-year reputation of educating
nurses. We sincerely appreciate your consideration and generosity.
Thank you!
